Look them in the eyes…..

Mommyhumor receives alot of mail from parents that have a difficult time communicating with their children. Many parents complain that their children are glued to the television, the computer or their cell phones. MMMMMM…..FYI! Make it simple….

1. TURN OFF THE T.V.

2. SET ASIDE a scheduled TIME for computer use (ex. homework,emailing, facebooking)

3. IF YOU PAY THE CELL BILL….YOU GET TO DECIDE HOW OFTEN IT IS USED!

What happened to hanging out and talking to your child, regardless of their age, and sincerely asking them what went on during their day? Ask open-ended questions and look at them in the eyes when you are speaking. There is such a disconnect going on in the world, but it does not mean it has to happen in your home. Every child wants to be heard, to be witnessed and feel cared for and supported. Instead of passively allowing them to escape into their virtual world, let them know that reality is so much sweeter and healthier.
